Technology, tool deliver automatic downhole torque management
NeoTork downhole torque management technology is unveiled to
mitigate slip-stick and vibrations plus cut down drilling time and cost.
The tool automatically manages torque generated from a drill bit and
mitigates axial and torsional vibrations. NeoTork is designed to bring
down drilling time, reduce drilling cost, and improve drilling performance “while limiting the number of trips that always remain a safety
exposure,” declares its provider.
This tool is designed to ensure once downhole torque exceeds preset
limit — a system of disc springs and steel cables automatically contracts
to reduce bit depth of cut. Excess torque ‘stored’ in the system is slowly
released as the drilling structure drills off.
Crucially, the bit remains engaged in the formation at all times so
drilling is never interrupted.
NeoTork may be used in a number of applications on rigs or with
coiled tubing in any operation that requires milling, drilling, or cutting
of material using rotation. It’s also applicable to such specialized operations as coring, hole enlargement, directional drilling, casing milling, or

Gravity-deployed slim carbon
